With over 70 years of experience, European Springs & Pressings is one of the UK’s leading compression spring manufacturers and suppliers. We produce springs for customers across the UK and worldwide.
Our engineers make custom compression springs for different design, material and performance needs. Our production range covers wire sizes from 0.1mm to 65mm. We use hot and cold coiling methods, depending on the spring design and material.
We also supply stock compression springs through our spring catalogue. This gives access to standard spring options for many common applications.
A custom compression spring can suit a project that needs a set size, load or working performance. Our engineers can design the spring to suit the needs of the application.
We look at the space available, the load and the working conditions. We also consider heat, moisture, chemicals and how many cycles the spring must handle.
Stock springs offer another option when a standard size meets the needs of an application. Our spring catalogue includes a range of sizes and spring types.
If you are unsure which option suits your project, our team can help you choose the right spring.
Good Spring design starts with how the part will work. Our engineers consider the load, size, working conditions and how long the spring needs to last.
We also look at factors that may affect spring performance. These include moisture, chemicals and changes in temperature.
Our CAD CAM systems support the design work. We then use CNC machinery and other equipment to make the spring to the required size and design.
We can review drawings and spring details when you have them available for a project or replacement requirement.
The spring material affects its performance and working temperature. We supply springs in several materials to suit different applications.
Unalloyed spring steel includes EN 10270-1-SH and EN 10270-2-FDSiCr. These materials suit low dynamic loads and higher static loads. EN 10270-1-SH has a maximum operating temperature of around 120°C. EN 10270-2-FDSiCr can operate at around 250°C.
Stainless spring steel includes SUS304WPB and EN 10270-3-1.4310. These materials can operate at around 150°C. The maximum permitted temperature can reach around 250°C.
Other materials include phosphor bronze, beryllium copper, Inconel, Hastelloy and Nimonic.
European Springs & Pressings is part of Lesjöfors. We can supply stock springs in a wide range of sizes and specifications.
Our stock range includes cylindrical, concave, barrel-shaped, tapered, conical, convex, hourglass and magazine springs.

Several measurements affect compression spring design. These include wire diameter, spring diameter, free length, compressed length and the required load.
The working environment also matters. Temperature, moisture, chemicals and repeated movement can all affect spring performance.
The number of cycles is also important. A spring that moves often needs to last for the required number of cycles.
Some materials may need a lower load at higher temperatures. This can also apply when a spring works above 10,000 cycles. Our engineers can review these needs and develop a suitable spring design.
Our engineers work closely with customers to understand their spring needs. We can provide support with design, material choice and technical production needs.
European Springs & Pressings is ISO 9001:2015 accredited. Our team checks spring quality throughout production. These checks help us confirm that each spring meets the required requirements.
Our team supports customers throughout the production process. This includes advice on spring design, materials and production needs.
We can also support projects that need other manufacturing services. These include surface treatments, sub-assembly services and prototyping.
Compression springs are open-coil helical springs designed to resist compressive forces. When compressed, they store potential energy which is released upon decompression, allowing for pushback in dynamic mechanical systems. Their unique helix shape makes them ideal for absorbing shock and maintaining force in compact spaces.
They are used in a wide range of industries, including within automotive suspensions, aircraft control systems, medical devices, and within everyday items like pens and watches.
With our experience as compression spring manufacturers, we’ve seen them used in many applications across various industries.
We manufacture using a variety of materials, including:
The material selection depends on the temperature, environment, and stress levels the spring will encounter.
Compression springs resist being compressed and push back to expand. Tension springs resist being pulled apart and contract when stretched.
Yes. All our springs are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certification, ensuring strict quality control and reliability across all orders.
Compression springs have many uses across different products and industries. They resist a force that pushes the spring together and return towards their original shape when the force is removed.
Common applications includes:
