Home › Custom Springs
Specialist applications often need custom springs, perhaps because there isn’t a stock spring made to fit its exact purpose, or the spring will be operating in a unique environment. As custom spring manufacturers, we help our customers design bespoke products to fit their needs, ensuring the right spring shape, materials, and surface treatments.
Even if you’re not sure on what the solution to your engineering challenge might be, our team of experts is here to help.
We recommend browsing our spring catalogue, to see if the component you need is available from our large selection of springs and pressings.
Maybe the load requirements are unusual, the space constraints are tight, or the environment is extreme with high temperatures, corrosion or repeated heavy cycles. Using a spring that has not been specifically designed for these situations can lead to poor performance, premature failure or safety risks.
If you’re experiencing any of these challenges, a custom spring could be the solution. Our team works with you to understand your application’s exact requirements, so that the spring performs reliably in your unique conditions.
Whether you need a coil spring, or a more unique component, our process is straightforward and tailored to you.
Fill in our quote form with a technical drawing if you have one. Alternatively, you’ll need to provide the wire diameter, outside diameter, free length, and quantity of your bespoke spring. It’s also helpful to give us details on the operating environment, and any other information you think will help.
We’ll go through your request, confirming any details and making recommendations on possible next steps. This may include defining the spring type, material, and other considerations.
Following consultation, we’ll go into custom spring design, using CAD software to mock up your product. We’ll create a prototype and make any necessary adjustments before production.
After the successful prototype is created, we’ll manufacture your precision spring using advanced CNC machinery, whether it’s a one-off product or a high-volume run.
We’ll conduct necessary testing to ensure your spring operates as it should, as well as performing additional treatments like plating, finishing, or heat treatments.
We’ve been designing and manufacturing high-quality springs for decades, so there’s a good chance we will be able to design and manufacture the ideal product for you if we have not already made it before.
Store energy by compressing. Used in machinery, automotive, and industrial applications.
Work via a rotational motion. Most commonly used in both hinges and levers.
Extend under load, can be used in seating mechanisms and retractable devices.
Provide consistent friction-free rotational force, used in clocks and precision instruments.
Give uniform torque over rotation. Used in counterbalances and retractable mechanisms.
Save space while providing compression force. Used in bearings and load control.
Heavy-duty compression springs. Ideal for die machinery and industrial pressing.
Springs for motors to ensure a long fatigue life and more reliable performance.
Conical springs that provide precise load. Used for clutches and load control.
Retain or clamp components securely. Used in automotive and assembly applications.
Provide controlled motion via gas pressure. Used in hoods, chairs and also lids.
Absorb shocks and support loads. Used in motorsports and vehicle suspension systems.
Arc-shaped plates that support acles. Commonly found in vehicle suspension systems.
Commonly used as clips to hold mouldings on cars, or can be used for oven catches.
Shaped wires for specific functions. Used in bespoke mechanical assemblies.
Typically used to address the load limitations of a polymer seal jacket when needed.
Even if all you have is the challenge, our team can guide you from problem to product. We take the time to understand your specific application, constraints and performance requirements, then develop a tailored spring solution to meet them.
Our state-of-the-art facilities use advanced CAD, CAM, and specialised techniques to ensure every spring meets our high standards. From design to manufacturing, everything happens under one roof. This means faster turnaround, straightforward communication, and a level of quality control that’s impossible when work is outsourced.
Whether you need a standard solution or a custom-designed spring, our expert team is dedicated to delivering the right product for your application. For more information or to discuss your requirements, please request a quote or call us on 0208 663 1800.
You may need a custom spring if a standard spring can’t meet your space, load, movement, or environmental requirements. If the spring must perform in unusual conditions, or you’re unsure what type you need, we can assess your problem and recommend the right solution.
We supply custom springs across a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, electronics, medical devices, energy, manufacturing, defence, transportation, and consumer products.
Bespoke springs are often needed when the application has unique constraints like tight spaces, precise loads, extreme temperatures, corrosive environments, or repeated high-cycle use. They’re commonly needed in specialist machinery, safety-critical systems, precision instruments, and custom-designed products.
We work with a wide range of materials, including stainless steels, Hastelloy, Nimonic, Elgiloy, Inconel, phosphor bronze, and beryllium copper. We’ll help you choose the right material for strength, durability, and environment.
