We have over 70 years of expertise as a coil springs manufacturer, designing and supplying coil springs for industrial, commercial, and bespoke applications. We provide ISO 9001-certified solutions for everything from precise small-batch orders to a large-volume stock supply.
Whether you require compression, tension, torsion, or another spring solutions, our engineering team is here to bring your project from concept to completion.
Coil springs are some of the most widely used springs within engineering and manufacturing. These helical springs store mechanical energy, and are made from wound metal wire. When compressed, stretched, or twisted, they generate force to absorb motion, provide resistance, or return components to a set position. Coil springs serve essential roles in everything from industrial equipment and rail systems to medical devices and consumer goods.
We are capable of coiling from wire diameters of 0.1mm to 65mm, using the latest hot and cold winding technologies. As part of the global Lesjöfors Group, we have access to an unparalleled range of materials and production resources, allowing us to cater to a vast range of demands across various industries.
As expert coil spring manufacturers, we specialise in the design and manufacture of three primary types of coil springs:
Compression springs are a common type of coil spring and are designed to resist compressive force. They shorten when compressed, and are frequently found in automotive, industrial, and aerospace systems. At European Springs & Pressings, we supply a range of compression spring types, including cylindrical, concave, barrel-shaped, tapered, conical, torsional, hourglass, and magazine variations.
Tension springs, otherwise known as extension springs, are designed to provide resistance when pulled apart. They are tightly wound and often have hooks or loops on the end. Industries like construction, agriculture, and manufacturing utilise tension springs.
Torsion springs are designed to resist twisting or rotational forces, providing torque upon rotation. They are typically found in many everyday applications, like garage doors and clothespins, in addition to the aerospace, medical, and electronic industry. We supply both single coil and double coil torsion springs – please speak to our team about which type is best for your application.
Each of these spring types can be tailored to your exact specifications or simply choose a stock solution from our spring catalogue. Our engineering team can create variations that differ in coil diameter, spring rate, load capacity, and overall geometry, if you have a niche application that requires a customised solution.
With decades of experience and a team of experts, we understand how important the design process is to a spring’s performance and durability.
We use advanced CAD Cam systems to manufacture custom coil springs that meet specific design and material requirements.
When designing custom coil springs, our engineers factor in many different elements to deliver a bespoke and reliable solution.
This includes environmental considerations, such as exposure to moisture or harsh chemicals, stress and life cycle requirements, and any other relevant factors such as force requirements or travel limits.
Before we send out our springs to you, they undergo rigorous quality assurance, which involves dimensional checks and load testing, to make sure your spring will function as intended.
Our manufacturing process includes both hot and cold coiling techniques, depending on the spring’s size, application, and material. With advanced CNC coiling machines, we’re able to create highly accurate and repeatable components even to high volumes. To ensure that your coil spring performs to the highest standard and maintains longevity, we offer several additional services such as heat and other surface treatments, sub-assembly services, and prototyping.
The two most common materials we use to manufacture coil springs are unalloyed spring steel and stainless spring steel. Unalloyed steel serves a range of general purposes in moderate temperatures (performs best up to 40°C, safe up to 120°C), and we typically recommend this for low-dynamic or high-static load applications. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, making it ideal for industries such as oil and gas, marine, or others where exposure to chemicals, weathering, or high temperatures is frequent.
Our stock also includes a wide variety of specialist alloys and non-ferrous materials. These include Hastelloy, Elgiloy, Nimonic, Inconel, Beryllium Copper, and Phosphor Bronze, providing exceptional performance in the most demanding environments. No matter the application, we ensure that your spring is made from material that will perform reliably over its intended service life.
We are a trusted coil spring manufacturer, with ISO 9001:2015 accreditation and the global expertise of the Lesjöfors Group. We offer comprehensive end-to-end support, from initial design and prototyping through to full-scale production, ensuring each and every project is handled with precision.
We offer fast lead times, reliable stock availability, and in-house testing and quality assurance for every component, we maintain the highest standards at every stage of manufacture.

Compression springs resist being compressed and push back when a load is applied. Tension springs resist being pulled apart and return to their original length when released. Torsion springs work through rotational or twisting force and provide torque when the ends are rotated.
Coil springs are used in an incredibly diverse range of industries. You can find them in automotive systems, aerospace components, industrial machinery, electronics, medical devices, energy and power generation, agriculture, and even consumer goods. Each application requires different specifications, which is why choosing the right spring material, load capacity, size, and shape is vital.
The lifespan of a coil spring depends on several factors, including the spring type, its material, the workload, the frequency of use, and the environment in which it operates. We recommend regular checks and maintenance to spot any potential issues before spring failure.
Yes, at European Springs & Pressings, quality is integral to everything we do. All of our springs are ISO 9001:2015 certified, and we conduct rigorous quality control across all of our products.
