When you want to lock the stroke at a certain position without using external locking mechanisms, lockable gas springs are used.
A lockable mechanism on a gas spring allows the rod to be locked into place at any point during its movement. This capability is typically enabled by a plunger that depresses and releases to free or impede this rod as required. At European Springs, we’re an influential member of the Institute of Spring Technology and the ISME, so our springs are used in many capacities, complying with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 with the BSI.
For example, gas springs can be applied to the use of adjusting tables, chair seats and backrests, and desks for office equipment. They are also administered in the ergonomic factors of gym machinery, control panels and even patient beds and hospital equipment.
The standard range of lockable gas springs includes:
- 70 different items
- Force ranging from 200 to 1000 N
- Strokes from 15 to 210 mm
- A number of different release mechanisms
